Code 48 - Stepper Motor - Idle control - fix

The stepper motor is the idle speed control device that is screwed into the left rear of the intake plenum - as you face the engine. I removed it and briefly sprayed carb cleaner into the business side of it - past the seat and spring. This was followed up by setting it on end and spraying it full of WD40, letting it sit for a bit. After refitting it with a makeshift gasket and a few drops of blue-medium- Locktite, short of the first start-up, it has worked flawlessly….knock on wood.

I believe that little bugger cost approximately $150.00!

You can buy it for a lot less.

Go to Autozone and look for this: Duralast AC102. It's $55.
