Clock only works when it's cold?

My first clock was a champ! Ran great for 8 years then finally died.

Bought a new one and this one only works if it is under 20 degrees outside?! Once it warms up clock stops! Crazy!

Any thoughts?

I'd suspect it has a solder joint on a circuit board that is bad and only works when cold because of contraction of materials when cold.

Because electric automotive clocks were always poor performers, that's the primary reason smart phones were invented.
