Center console suggestions

When my 110 was converted to a 200tdi by the PO, they sourced the motor, transmission and transfer case from a disco and dropped it in. The issue of course is that the shifter for the transmission comes through the front of the seat box. Obviously the elegant solution would be a short bell housing, but until the transmission blows I'm not doing that.

What I do need is something to rest my arm on. I have about 14" from the back of the shifter to the back of the seat box. I don't need a console with a stereo slot, but I'll be damned if I can find something that size. Any suggestions?

What I told you before. Cut down a tuffy, or cut out the bend in the shifter and you'll gain a few inches.

My suggestion would be to replace the transmission with an LT-77 from any early 110/90 that some numpty is going to inevitably dump because he "heard they are weak and get eaten up by the 200tdi."

Tony,
Post a couple of pics of the area you want the console. Does tuffy make anything for a jeep that would fit?

You should have seen the birdhouse I made in 9th grade woodworking class. Birds wouldn't come into the yard for 3 years out of fear.

Go to a local cabinet shop. show them a picture of what you want and have them build it to fit. They could probably do it in a day and you could have them build some custom features like a hidden compartment and rear cup holders. I bet they could make something pretty nice. Then you could wrap it with vinyl or leather

If you want security for valuables, steel. If you want a bird house, use wood. Have you considered the Jeepers special ammo can route?

I'm not sure the steel would add all that much security for valuables...it's not like a Defender's locking system is a real deterrent for a thief and a tuffy lock isn't all that much more...

An ammo can would be ghetto fabulous in a big way...zip saw it so that it fits and you're in action.

I'd build the bird house personally.

I like this one in this ROW 110 I'm helping a buddy sell. I'm told this was a dealer option instead of the useless middel seat. I'd like to try and make one. If i do I'll put a hole in the back as an inside joke.

Damn Freudian slips.

Dave has what appears to be a ROW wood cubby that he's measureing for me. It may work if I get out my finest pocket knife and whittle off the front end. there should be enough vinyl left over from the rear seat project to recover it, so it may be worth a try. Clearly this is going to go one of two ways . . .

If you can find a way to fit a Tuffy it would be well worth it

If swapping out the stock cubby from a '94 D-90, does the Tuffy fix right in or do you need to drill holes and use the attachment kit. I need metal and a good lock & the Tuffy 12 1/2 model seems to be the best.

Saw another post from April - Skeena was not happy with the Tuffy and wants a Mantec - what do they have?
