CDL not locking

I have had this problem for a long time now. Since the current transmission was installed. The CDL lever doesn't shift the linkage enough to lock the diff. My question is hot to fix this? I'd actually like to be able to lock the thing without having to dive under the truck like I do now. The lever does unlock it and works as far as hi low in both locked and unlocked.

What's different about this transmission? Have you looked to see if it's binding somewhere? Pulled the boots and made sure they are not restricting access?

linkage is adjustable. pull the boot and tunnel cover. there is a fulcrum bolt that threads into the side of the r380 that is adjustable by threading it in or out to increse or decrease throw

Nothing as far as I know is different. Its just never worked. I'll pull the boot and cover and play with the link. Thanks for the help.

it is worth checking if it is not locking or the light is not working, before you try to adjust it.

I'm having the same issue on my 1997 D90. I don't think the previous owner ever did and it's frozen. I don't want to push to hard and risk bending it. I've taken the boot off but removing the center console cover looks a bit hairy. Any pointers at getting at it without doing that? Or if not, how to remove the console cover without ripping apart the interior?

I know its not moving enough because I have to crawl under the truck to get it to move that last little bit.
