CB locations

Ok, I'm in desperate need of a cb radio and I've searched the forum for info but can't find anything. Where should I put it? I have a 97 sw And I need a clean place to mount one. Suggestions?

A good choice of CB is the Cobra 75 WX ST. It has a small box for the power supply and antenna hookup. All the controls are on the handset, which can be disconnected and stored in a safe place when not in use, You can see it here:

http://www.cobra.com/index.php?page=...duct_id=5&id=1

I'm going to mount the base in the battery box.

I also installed the Cobra 75 WX ST. I installed the base inside the center console so it wouldn't get wet and I can store the handset in there when it's not in use. Plus it's real easy to get power from the radio.

Mine is bolted to the underside of the dash on the passenger side. It doesn't really get in the way of the passenger's legs. I don't have A/C anymore so I have legroom to spare. Best pic I have is during my clutch job.

We had a real good thread on this, but it was on the old forum:
http://www.defendersource.com/discus...es/16/649.html

I really like the little Cobra, I've had one of theses in the past 4 Rovers I've owned. The one downside I found with them in a ST D90 is hearing it while driving on the highway but hookin gup an external speaker to the provided jack cures that problem.

A friend of mine made a mounting plate for mine and we mounted it to the header bar over the light.

That's where mine is, but I've got a ST, so there were no switches to relocate. I just removed the blank plastic switch plate, and bolted my regular-size CB in there.

The only problem with mounting it there is the handset cable is pretty thick and has a good chance of getting cut up by the box cover.

I mounted the control box for my 75 wx st under the tuffy with the pigtail hanging out the front. the control box fits nicely in the bottom of the opening for the radio.
