Cant remove the cooler lines!!

Need help.
Working on changing out the cooler lines on my 97 Defender LE.

Radiator lines came out easy. I cant remove the ones below.

Tried PB blaster.....wont budge.

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure of your setup but I was able to take off the oil cooler completely by removing the oil filter and then a nut inside the assembly. If you can get it off then you should be able to work the lines off at the work bench. Hopefully you have the exterior oil cooler like I had on my 3.9....

He's talking about a 97 so the cooler lines go into the front cover, not an adaptor above the filter. He will have to do them in the truck unless he wants to pull the front cover.

Yea that's what I figured. I'm not sure which engines are in which trucks during which years! Those are defiantly a tougher fix. I ended up scrapping my lines all together. I know there's been much discussion about that in other threads but since my 87 had no oil cooler whatsoever, I'm sure it will be fine.

Figured it out.

I cut the metal part of the original line with a pipe cutter.

Then I was able to get a socket wrench around the bolt.

What a headache! The new SS lines from Eric are in and look great!

That's what I'll be doing. I don't think they are necessary for what I do and where I drive either. No plans to trek Bahrain in the future.
