CAn't get my defender to start

After running very well for 7 days in moab a week ago, Returned home went back to work and tonight I couldn't get it started.. It turns over fine but won't fire. With the ignition on, but not cranking, I am getting very rapid arcing when i pull my coil wire off of the distributor and putting it near a ground. with the coil wire in place and a plug wire pulled both cranking and not cranking I don't seem to be getting a arc from the plug wire.. Any suggestions would be appreciated... as a side note I posted a while back asking for suggestions for lockers and axles.. I went with Rovertracks and love them.. thanks for the good advice

Looks like you found the problem, assuming your fuel pump is working. Replace the cap, rotor, wires and plugs and you should be all set. You would not normally expect to get a spark while not cranking, right?

Right! And I agree if you get spark at the coil wire but nothing at the plug wire it sounds like time for a new cap and wires.

If you're getting spark at the coil wire but not at the plugs after replacing the cap and rotor, then you have isolated the problem to the wires or the plugs.
