Cannot pick up rpm signal

Hi All

I have a 2010 Defender 110 had a puma 2.4tdci engine
And I have replaced it with Chevy V8 LS Based 6.0L and a 4L80 trans, the problem I'm having right now is the Rpm signal I'm trying to make the original instrument cluster working please advise .

Ps is there a signal converter that I can use to make the rpm work ?

With the distributorless ignition on the LS engine, I think you are going to need this:

http://www.msdignition.com/Products/...Ignitions.aspx

I have read that will work with a normal gas tach, I cannot say for certain that it will work with a diesel tach. The diesel ones are normally driven off a terminal on the alternator (at least for a VW diesel or LR TDI)

Hope this helps

Tach signal typically comes from the alternator. On most alternators there is a terminal labeled "W".
This is the tach signal source. Not sure how a tdci gauge and an LS alternator will be as far as synch but your gauge should give you a reading if you connect the signal wire to the w spade on the alternator.

Wow! Most people in the US would pick a Puma motor over a GM motor. Guess location is everything in this case.

unfortunately in my Country even my region ( middle east ) there is lack of expereince a round the land rover defender in general in my case i was forced to change my engine because the dealer in my country broke my new puma engine after only 20000km !!
after an investigation was made by a court order the dealer declared that he don't have experienced mechanic for such a car and don't have even a spare parts
