Can Somone Confirm - VDO

All,
I have scoured the forum and come up with the parts to do the VDO gauge swap on my 1987 Defender 90. I am about to submit my order, but wanted to make sure I was ordering the right parts before I did so....here is what I have compiled

Fuel - 301-105
Temp - 310-1052 (kit includes various parts I will need)
Clock - 370-155
Speedo - 437-155
Harness for speedometer - stc4637
Speed Sensor - ybe100540 OR ybe100530

My questions is, can someone confirm that the ybe100540 will work for my 87 D-90? I have the LT77 and 2.5td

Thank you

The speed sensor actually goes into the transfer case. So as long as you have an LT230 under there you should be good. I'll be under the Antichrist later today, I can take a look and see what I have since I have the same speedo.

Not sure if you are running a diesel or not: but in addition

EGT 310-153
Boost 150-1041
Water temp sender 323-417
Diesel Tach 333-158 (0-6k rpm)

To simplify things I believe you can use a CJ-7 speedo cable.

Thank you! I am running the 2.5td, but I believe the temp gauge/kit (310-1052) comes with a sender and adapters to make it work. i believe the sender that comes in the kit is (323-095)

Cant remember exacly but I think I was going to buy the 323-417 because it is M16x1.5. The same as the stock sender location on a 200TDI

With the 323-095 (1/8-27 NPT) you will have to make a bushing or drill/tap somewhere

Use this page for refrence on the senders: http://www.egauges.com/vdo_send.asp?...=250F_120C_VDO

According to egauges.com, the 310-1052 kit come with a 1/8-27npt to M16x1.5 adapter bushing that allows you to use 323-095. I believe it is cheaper to buy the kit than it is to buy the gauge and sender separately.

Nick,

My Tdi has YBE100540 on it... also you will need to find the connector that mates to the sensor. It's the same connector that goes to a NAS rear brake light. I forget where I got it from, but without it you will be having a bad day. I found a pigtail version that only had about 6 inches of wire on it, so I put a molex connector at the bare wire end and then made my own cable to run up to the speedo.

You will also have fun programming the speedo for the sensor. Find a good GPS unit that shows speed in real time and it will take a good 30 minutes to get it dialed in due to VDO's really dumb method of programming it.
