Buying an EU 110 for cross-continental travel

I have some friends that are thinking of buying a 110 from EU and want to drive it immediately after through Europe and possibly part of Africa / Asia.

After thinking about it I realized I don't know anyone here who has done that before.

Has anyone? And if so, what should you watch out for? For example, will the vehicle's registration create issues at border crossings?

Something that immediately comes to my mind: they want a LHD vehicle, which means likely buying the vehicle from a country that doesn't speak english. If there's a language barrier I could see that as another wrinkle to the challenges of buying a vehicle sight-unseen...

I think the language barrier at purchase will be the least of your barriers in a trip through Europe, Asia and Africa. I have purchased several vehicles in Germany and my German is horrible. If they want your money they will find a way to sell you anything you want.

I would focus more on visas, international drivers licenses, insurance, road side insurance, medical insurance, security threats, provisions, equipment, and communications.

Have them contact Stuart Foley @ Foleys Specialist Vehicles. The Foley's used to run a expedition rental business for folks doing the London/Capetown run and familiar with how to setup a truck and are a wealth of knowledge. LHD isn't a problem for them.
