Question Building a PUMA in Los Angeles. Plausible?

Another option I've been considering is biulding a PUMA truck from assorted D90 parts. Do you guys think theres anyone selling a completely disassembled PUMA states side or at least the major parts to a PUMA such as the dash, wiring, drive-train, axles, basically the entire drivetrain. Any help is appreciated. I'm soon going to have a shop to be able to carry the work out over time so very interested in figuring out hwo to get these parts to LA.

You can get pretty much all of the bits here in the UK, can't imagine it would be too hard to get them shipped over. It's only engine, gearbox and bulkhead (with dash and wiring) fuel pipes & pump. Fuel tank is the same more or less as the NAS.

Hmm, I'm going to do this one of 2 ways. Either I'm going to just buy one outright, or I'm going to buy the parts (prefer to find it stateside) and biuld it up as a project. I'd like to avoid shipping things here on my own as I've never done it before.

Guess the member of this board who you can pay a small fee to, who has aided in the transportation of entire trucks, disassembled projects, containers, etc.

Thats the only problem I have with your post

So who is this member anyway? I would really prefer to biuld this time rather than buy but, I'm willing to do what I have to do to get one. Sans getting my knees dirty.

to my knowledge there are no dissasembled pumas this side. I'm happy to assist with bringing in the components. There was a seller on ebay UK a couple of months ago with several complete xs spec puma body shells with dash and interior, you would then need a chassis-also available on ebay uk. The drive trains are also available but cannot ship with the body and chassis for obvious reasons.
I would expect UK customs to open the box before it ever even gets on a ship to insure the aprst aren't stolen.

Ok excellent, I'm going to start planning this soon so its good to know who I can go to (Doug). So if I go ahead with this, it'll all be phone/Mastercard transactions then?

Can you bring a CKD (complete knock down) 2012 into the USA and assemble it ?

This would do the job for you. Of course a custom job could be all galvanized and with stainless steel.

The seller will want a wire transfer.

No such thing as CKD anymore and, no, that would not be legal.

Coz just spent a week driving a Puma powered Defender in Zambia.
There are no disassembled Pumas here. Officially. But I am willing to bet that Customs and DOT have crushed a few

I thought you were a wrangler/auto 911 guy now. Did daddy give the okay for a new toy?

You forgot to add that you will only do this if all the parts are readily available in LA. You will not travel or do business over the phone as you are a very busy business man.

Why would you do that? Buy a beater UK 1980s donor already in the UK.

Yeah, very wise bet. I'd even bet they're crushing Puma's every day now. Otherwise, we'd be seeing them every time we fucking turn around. Isn't it interesting how those two agencies, known for their efficiencies and intelligence, have beefed up their forces, focused their resources on Land Rovers and made it their honorable mission to crush Puma's.

Are you talking about rovers or actual pumas? I hear there is a smuggling ring bringing in exotic animals like parrots and wild cats. Someone should call the ASPCA on them if they are crushing actual cats. That has to be illegal.
