Broke Down Help

Well she finally let me down. I was driving when I heard a pop noise. The idle dropped and rebounded back up. A few seconds later it was stalling out and a strong smell of something burning. Had an electrical spell to it. I was able to drive it to the side of the road. Once I turned it off it would not even turn over. I'm getting power to the radio, wipers,lights...ect. It is at the dealer.....anyone have an Idea so I know where I am going before I call this morning.
Thanks
Rich

Sounds like you've burned up a critical bit of wiring. That pop was probably a nice arc of electricity. It could be a number of things really, I used to burn up engine harnesses on my old mustang when I'd go driving after some careless tinkering. I did it a couple times and both incidents involved wiring touching the exhaust manifold.

Its probably pretty simple, but since you mentioned that the truck is at the dealer, I would reckon that even if its simple it wont be cheap.

I found out that my starter shorted. Mike McCullum and Gary at Land Rover West chester really helped me out. Great price and great service. I can't say enough about how much I like having my D-90 worked on there. Put it this way, I had AAA tow to west chester from downtown Philly rather then have them tow it just accross the bridge to another LR dealer.

Agree on West Chester, I was in West Chester on business from NY, developed a terrible rattle from the front of my '95, & determined it was the idler pully(non-serpentine). They came out, took a look for me, then broke out the parts schematic & identified the idler pulley bearing from a '97 A/C tensioner as the one I needed(saving me $150 in the process). The '95 schematic didn't break the bearing out from the pulley, but Mark Stefanisko went back & thumbed through the '97 based on a hunch that he could get the bearing part #. Great stuff, highly recommended.
