British Vendors?

Ok it's probably just me, but I've had trouble getting parts out of British vendors. I've purchased from most every American vendor & with little trouble. But every so often I need that little rare bracket or piece they don't have (or I don't have time to contact every one of them) so I decide I'll go with one of the big UK vendors & it takes me days & days, in one recent case, weeks, of emails back & forth. They take 4 or 5 days to respond each time. Usually, I eventually give up.

Anyone had any particularly good luck with quick responses & fast shipping from a UK vendor they could recommend?

Huh, the British vendors in the UK are no different than the British vendors here then?

Anyone purchase any larger items from Craddock lately? Like a few seats. If so how was turn around time?

Bought some little bits from Craddock's two weeks ago.

I ordered them on-line Sunday evening and the FedEx guy delivered on Thursday.

I would suggest making a phone call instead of email and you will get your order taken care of right away. That's been my experience. Email is generally worthless when dealing with vendors.

I've called & emailed both. Last time I called, about 10 days ago, I was told "We get 2,000 emails a day & can't possibly respond." And they could not address my request for the reason. They were nice about it, but this has been what happens when I call. I still get "We'll get to you" & they never do.

I'll try Lemonhead's suggestions. Thanks

Lemonhead gave 2 good companies to call for parts, call Monday have parts within 3 days. If shopping for shipping costs, not a lot of help from many in the UK. Shipping quotes to the USA is a common complaint from many vendors. If you call and order a part/parts, then usually not a problem and happy to take your card info. Same with EBay UK, good comms, and a 100% feed back will get many who state UK only to work with you.

I order a lot from Paddocks Spares and Brit-car.co.uk

BritCar is Duncan Mansfield's company and he rocks. He'll order the rare dealer only items like my 130 Special Vehicles only parts and ships them right over.

I just had some exmoor carpet shipped over from Craddock, it took a couple of day to get to fed ex, it was at my house the next day. I have ordered a lot from RimmerBrothers lately, if you can order if off their site, they are very quick to ship. I have a order with them now for some items from Exmoor and BritPart that was not on their site, took several days to price. IF you are looking at Exmoor leather seats, it take about a 4 to 5 week lead time. I placed my order 4 weeks ago, and they tell me they should have it by Friday this week. Both vendors take about 2 days to respond to email...

Just placed an order from Rimmer Bros the other day, we'll see how long it takes to get here. I had an email confirmation saying it had been dispatched the following day.

Again, Doug hits it on the nose. Britcar, Duncan Mansfield. Parts and service. He has found me parts that no body else could. He hasnt always been able to sell them to me but has found them at other vendors in Holland, Germany etc and has generally been a huge help. Then again I never shop by price as I am far more concerned with service and quality.

Another vote here for Britcar. Great parts selection and fantastic service. I find myself dealing with them more and more. I've had great luck in communicating with Duncan via email, as well as members of his staff. They work with you on shipping options too. Their prices on Genuine parts often kick the snot out of the US vendors, even with the airmail shipping.

I've also had great service with lrseries.

My door seals just came in this afternoon from Rimmer Bros. They are genuine LR parts too! I'm annoyed that I can't order some market specific items through the dealership, because the door seals would have been cheaper and I wouldn't have been charged shipping.
