Bought 95 Defender 90 265/500

I have had it for about a week now, and it has been great. Changed all the fluids and did some other cleaning. I have no history of the maintenance on this D90, does anyone have any suggestions about other things I may want to check or tune up? It has 45K miles.

It looks great CONGRATS!!!

I have had mine for 1 year and LOVE it!!!!

Mine had 85K so I am having problems you won't have for a while. I would say make sure you are familiar with the fluids and keep em clean and you should be OK.

I bought mine in Memphis. No too far from you!

Good Luck!

I would do a compression test and make sure that the coolant temperature is as low as possible. I watch the temperature like a hawk because the aluminum heads have a tendency to warp if they overheat. Don't I sound paranoid? Also I like to put in a oil pressure gauge, because the stock light wont come on until your engine blows. When you check the compression, take note of the spark plug condition, clean and re-gap, or replace. Also put cardboard under your truck and look for any fluid leaks. Oh yeah... If the truck ever runs "not right". Did you try to call a dealer and give them the vin #? They keep records of vehicle repair history (usually). And they can't charge you for them!!!

Nice truck!!! 46K is young!!!

I need a new windshield, but I am getting crazy price quotes, like $500. Any suggestions or ideals?

congrats on the purchase, it looks really good! If you take it out wheeling everyonce in a while to shake the bugs out of it, it'll perform for years to come! I can't remember how much it was to replace our windshield, but I didn't think it was that much. I remember it being pretty high though.
*EDIT* BTW, welcome to d-90.com!!

Did you buy it around Nashville? I only know of two white SW around here, one stock and one with a winch. Also was that in the shop at LRN on Tuesday?

I am glad to see more 90's around Nashville, there are not many of them.

Also if you ever want to go wheeling let me know. What part of Nashville are you in?

BTW we have a local rover club, http://www.tnrovers.com/

When my oil cooler hose went, I thought I had struck black gold! Oil spewing everywhere, like I was drilling for it... I still have stains on my hood, wing tops, and firewall. I second that.

Hans, are you saying oil, coolant, and hoses or are there really oil cooler hoses? Sorry if that is a moronic question.

the oil passes through a section of the radiator. They have a tendancy to burts over time and light off if you happen to be driving at the time.

some insurance companies offer a free glass replacement option, if your windshield is cracked or broken they will replace it for free. I don't think it is an expensive option, could be like $20 a year. see if you have it, if not ask for it, then call them back a few days later. If your windshield isn't broken, you could always have your kid or neighbors kid throw a baseball through it.
welcome to the group.
