bottle jack

hi everyone, im new to the forum. i have a 97 d-90. i recently purchased the hi-lift jack for offroad lifting.
i noticed there is no bottle jack in the vehicle for roadside use. what do i need to look for in a bottle jack, does it have to be specifically for the d90 or can it be a land rover jack, that would work for all models? does anyone have any resources or info? sorry, i searched the forums on the topic and found scattered info and just wanted to be sure, i apologize if this is a newbie/redundant posting.

thanks,

michael

Follow-up Post:

i should have said that i did look on several sites, realizing that there are expensive new bottle jack options...like 150.00 versions, looking for some slightly less expensive options that are right for the vehicle.

thanks!

You can pick up the LR bottle jack used... Another option is to pick one up at Harbor Freight or the like. Just use one that will fit under the axle.

If you are missing the jack, you are also missing the extension handle and the lug wrench. The lug wrench is a POS, so instead grab a breaker bar and a 27mm socket.

thanks, checked out harbor freight...how come they are so much cheaper on there than the lr version?
i mean, like a 100.00 cheaper!?!

ok, last dumb questions, is there a capacity i should get, 4, 6, 20 ton etc? and does the bottle jack support while you change the wheel, or do need to support it after i get it to the right height with a block support?

Because the LR one is nice and the HF one is crap. The biggest difference is the LR one has the cradle (like a u to cup the axle) and is telescoping.

The LR one is more $ because it says LR on it... And it is a deep red color, which is more expensive.

You should always shore up your vehicle when jacking up your truck. Cause shit happens as they say. Its a good idea to have a bottle jack in conjunction with the farmers jack.

I would have been more than happy to add them to my collection. I have one for every rover and a spare, but I could have used 3 more. On ebay they sell for silly money sometimes.

I had no idea that anyone would want them to be honest. So many good parts went in the dumpster but I had no time to deal with them

If I were local you could have dumped them on me (I am the repository for unwanted rover parts).
