bonnet pin/latch suggestions?

With the new intercooler in, the latching mechanism will no longer come even close to fitting. On my old 90 I installed military hood latches on each side and I'm tempted to do the same again. Anyone have any other clever ideas?

Plain old hood pins. There's a racing shop out here that sells the camel trophy style pins fairly cheap.

Thats where the fittment of my intercooler (same as yours) took several hours of in and out mock up. I am still using the stock latch. Are you sure you have to drill holes in the body work ?

I'd have to completely re-build the assembly -- far easier to poke 2 holes in the hood.

I'll have to look the shop up but they are the pins I have on my truck.

Same as Doug here, allot of fiddling around and bracket fabrication and fitted right in with a quarter inch to spare.

Takes longer but result is great and I can go back (not that I would want to ...) to stock in a flash.

Guys,

Get the Poly ones, not the cheap racing ones. You will thank me after a while. The hood pins are a wonderful upgrade though.

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

I did, and I'm very happy with them. I'm in the midst of packing for a few days in OBX, so if you can wait until the weekend for pics. Highly recommended upgrade, though.

Good company too. They have about the best inventory for do it yourself truck mods I have seen. I have got a bunch of stuff from them.

Yeah, that is $35 for the pair. I will check out the Poly Performance site. Looks pretty nice.

Thanks again for the advice Buck.
