blown alternators

i have a friend who has a 95sw almost the same truck as mine, who has blown though 6 alternators in a very short time span. Battery tests fine, everything looks fine.. Anyone got any ideas on what could be possibly causing this? We've looked at everything almost possible.. I'm hoping someone else has had a similar problem. At this point i just feel for him..

Is he useing rebuilds or new? Rebuilds from the "chain" rebuilders are known to fail at an alarming rate.

well , the winch is almost never used, and he never uses his lights. In fact the truck is only used for trails. He's using rebuilds but he's had one new factory alternator go out. Also he's done a GM conversion due to failing alternators and had the same bad luck several times. So at this point in time it's doubtful it's the alternator, the last alternator probley had less than 2K miles on it.
