Blank Ignition Key 1987 90 diesel

My ignition key looks like it went through a wood chipper. I need a new blank key. I found them listed for $69 to $145.

I don't want a gold plated key.

This key has no intelligence and does not have an FOB built in however I suspect it is sometimes an SOB.

Where can I buy a reasonably priced blank key?

Thanks.

The Rover's North Key I found was $69.

I think that's what I paid for my truck

They're all the same. Search bey blank or key blanks here and you should find a bunch of discussions and sources. The hard part will be finding someone to cut it for you.

That's nuts. I may have paid a few dollars for my last one. What about RDS?

I bought some from Rovahfarm. They where under $10. Any local locksmith should be able to cut them.

I took a blank to a locksmith. The only thing special was they had to freehand cut it so he made no guarantees it would work on the first try. But it did. Lowes or homedepot won't be able to do it because they have phased out real lock cutting set to the idiot-proof versions in my experience.

Yup... I just had to do this and went down to HD, they have some self-service thing that the employees don't help you with. Fine if it's a Kwikset lock that is really common.

I ended up going to my local independent hardware place, the kid who helped me really liked the challenge and got it to work.

Plenty listing on Ebay for them around $10.00. However Rovafarm is a good supplier, you could also try Safari Heritage Parts.

Just for s and g's, and the fact I needed another key for my 110, I went to Ace Hardware. Of course it is not listed in the data base, but after some looking I found a Mitzubishi blank that works great. Oh...and only $3.00 each.

I had a key blank that a friend of mine gave me and a local locksmith cut it for $3.

A good locksmith will be able to match up a key blank.

I just noticed the other day that our dealership has some Defender key blanks in stock. They have a British Leyland stamp on them IIRC.
