Bilstein Install Question

Installed bilsteins on the '97 D90 this weekend and have a question. On the rear lower mounts, are the oem cups that retain the rubber bushings supposed to come off. There is one on the top and one underneath on each side. The new shocks came with new washers but it looks like the ones on there are tack welded on. I hammered on them a bit but they did not move. Picture attached....thanks guys

Yes, remove those cups that are (lightly) attached to the shock mounts. You WILL break your shocks otherwise.

Which part is John suggesting you knock off? Is the pen pointing to a rubber bushing or a metal cap?

Yes, knock that pen off, too. There is no pen attached to mine--it looks like it is being held on by just the tip. ;-)
