Bikini Top

I have a Bestop bikin top and want to know how to attach it.

I know the gutter part on the front and the snaps above the doors, but I have straps and I think it should have two brackets at the body tub that the staps go through.

Question is does anyone know what size/length bolts I need to attach the brackets? I need the brackets too but I am thinking I can just get these parts at ACE. The body tub has the holes and they are already threaded, I just don't know the size.

Thanks,
Alex

I never used the brackets on mine. It's been a while but I recall the strap was long enough to run down under the roll cage tubing (behind the front seats) and back up to snap onto the bars above the windows. It worked well this way for 5 summers.

I wasn't a fan of the strap style bikini top. When I had it, I just tied it off at the C pillar. I personally would modify the top with the necessary snaps to attach onto the B pillar instead of drilling holes into the tub.

The best option is to buy a Badger strapless bikini.

Those bikini tops came with C-clamps that were to be screwed into the cappings on either side of the rear door. I think you can remove the brackets that hold the rear window bar in place and screw the brackets into those existing holes. If you don't have the brackets, I'm sure you can fab something simple up from stuff at Home Depot.

I agree with getting the strapless one from Badger though. It's doesn't provide much protection from the sun on the back of your neck but it's less hassle with those straps going thru the back of the truck.

If I were you, I'd just run a surrey top, much better in my opinion. Once I got mine, I've never gone back to the bikini top.

Don't use the brackets. They are just more holes you don't need to be putting in your truck. I ran the straps to the C or D pillar. just wrap them around there, so later down the line when its winter and you have a hard top on it you don't have stupid brackets in the back and you ask yourself "WTF? why did i do that?"

Bestop Bikini Snaps?

I've had a Bestop bikini top since new but have never used it... I have the header bar for the front but the canvas top has snaps on the side also.. what do they snap on to?

The five (or 5) snap door bars.

The things in the back are called footman (or footmen) loops.

On the 94 D90 the strap snapped into snaps on the back side of the tub. Then rover put a "tie down staple" on top of the tub rail - the strap went thru that and snapped onto itself. If you have threaded holes six inches inboard of the tube side then you probably have the latter style. The tie down staples are available from RN and the bolt size is probably 5 mm.
