BG Products

BG Products offers products for engine flushing, transmission flushing, coolant systems flushes and fuel injection flushes with the use of their various products www.bgprod.com. They even say if you have less than 36K miles on your vehicle and have a transmission flush performed by their dealer they will warrant the transmission for the next 7 years/150K miles.

My truck is approaching 90K miles, isn't buring oil, doesn't overheat and gets 14+ mpg. Does anyone have an opinion on doing these flushes and/or using these types of products to clean your systems out as part of regular maintenance for high-mileage trucks?

I have heard from both Jag and Rover mechanics that BG is the only fuel injector cleaner that works. I use it every other oil change in both vehicles. I haven't tried the others.

Thanks for the input. One shop I spoke to yesterday said they didn't think the engive flush can really do much more than remove varnish from non-moving parts (value covers, etc.). They said after an engine flush you have clean oil for about 10K miles, but that didn't necessarily mean all the damaging composits were being removed. Confusing. They also highly recommended the injector product which I'll probably go with.

Made here in the air capital. Good stuff Maynard.

JP

Repeated flushes can clean out the gunk. Flush the next three oil changes.

When you say flush do you mean the full-blown hook it up to the machine type of flush (as they suggest), or do you mean just add the product in with the next three oil changes?

They have a product you can add to the oil before you change it. If you do this try to change your oil every 2000 miles because it leaves residue.

Follow the directions carefully.

The machine is good also, just a little spendy.
