I recently saw a best top on a truck at a shop I frequent where it had no windows in yet the back was miles away from clipping in. The shop asked me if I thought it would fit and I wasn't sure. Do the best tops shrink that much? Will it need to be tossed in the trash? I said use a space heated but I really didn't see it stretching the four inches needed.

I don't have my Bestop anymore, but it looks like you are missing the rubber weather stripping. Not sure how that would be though.

The B Pillar vertical bar would help a lot, though your top looks to have shrunk quite a bit.

So can anything be done about the shrinkage?

If its a 1997 top then it will have pockets for the vertical brackets.
Yes these tops shrink that much
Even a Badger Top will shrink over time.
With patience, time and heat they will stretch some.
What I do is usually put the top on without windows.
Then add one window only zipping in partially.
Hooking it to the belt rail while slowly rolling the top down as you zip.
Leave it on for a bit to acclimate to the stretch
then undo and do the other side.
Then try and do both sides. A helper will make it easier.
Once the sides are in comes the back window.
I will usually take the sides off the belt rail and partially zip in the back window.
I use my left hands to roll the top over the C pillar while synching the snap on the C pillar.
Once I have a good stretch i start zipping the top and sides

Take your time the zippers are prone to ripping.
I also will spray/clean the cage with some WD 40 before the install
Good luck

Heat helps tremendously, hard in the winter but I isles to lay mine in the sun for a few hours prior to putting it on. Heated garage maybe, but really doesn't help unless it is above 80.

its a 94 - so he is going to have to "tap" out the rivet and install a nutsert thing, so that the vertical bar can screw to something. =)
