Only to get to Ron's place. Then the two of them put on doors, fixed some odds and ends, and headed out together.

Hey There Everyone...... Baaaaad News ... Mike just called me to say they were about 80 miles from Usef. It seems that the Radiator blew..or as Mike said and I quote" The water shit the bed"
They were waiting for AAA to come tow them as Ron has the Gold plan....Thankfully.
If I hear more I'll post right away....Debbi

PS: As you all know Mike is very resourcefull so... Keep those Defender prayers heading his way.

Update! It was the waterpump that gave out - fortunately, Mike and Ron anticipated the problem and bought a replacement before they left. They couldnt do a roadside fix because the fan clutch wont come off the old water pump's shaft. AAA will get them to Yusef's where they plan to address the problem with a Sawzall.

Jim,
When you talk to them, tell them to upload some photos from Yousef's.

Wink Ahhh..! He's not Crazy

Mike..? Crazy........!! No Way its more like total obsession. My husband Bob and I have been totally amazed by Mike thruout the last years trials with his D-90. He's gonna be happy when he finds out his part arrived today to get his truck back on the road.
He will be putting pic up when he reaches Usef's House.

Good news - the water pumpis fixed and the guys are rolling again. They neededto press the old pulley onto the new pump and a Firestone place hooked them up for free! Next stop: Moab.

Damn. I think we drove right by each other in Kansas and I missed them.... Now I am all the way into Kentucky going the opposite direction. So much for taking a photo of them going the opposite way.

For comparison purposes my 97 D-90 SW has thrown three codes and refused to start twice on the trip (after about 2500 miles). I guess I should be happy that it has been all minor things I was able to easily fix.

Michael

The guys rolled into Moab at 0500 this morning. they plan on hanging out there for the weekend before they head out again. So the truck made it over the worst mountain pass on the route and you can find the guys at the Archway Inn if you want to buy them a beer.
