Best place to find a replacement radiator

My plans for flushing the radiator this past weekend were halted after I realized my radiator is on its last legs. There are a couple signs of leaks and the fins are disintegrating to the touch. I can only hope the PO didn't put any stop leak additive in there which would potentially gunk up the rest of the system.

In any case, it's gotta go. I searched the forums and found Atlantic British as a possible source for a new radiator. Problem is that it's pretty pricey (around $850). Anyone know of a place I can get an OEM or heavy duty replacement?

Thanks
Bani

I know there are plenty-o-posts on this, I just haven't done the research yet myself...I'm looking for a drop in heavy duty better than OEM quality. Then I was thinking of re-coring the old for back up....

They are the best as far as I have seen. Cost in the 1000$ ballpark with shipping.

Just buy an OEM one, make sure your fan clutch and water pump are in good shape, make sure your AC fans spin if fitted, and stop trying to fix something that is not broken. WillT had new rads for ~$650, even at $800, it is cheap for something that lasts 15-25 years.

If it is for your '95 D90, we have the Genuine replacement in stock if you decide on it. http://landroverparts.roversnorth.co...x?code=ESR3685

Cheers,

I replaced mine a couple of months ago with genuine and I can believe the difference. My original was falling apart to the touch as well.

A fee years ago, I picked up a replacement radiator for a ferrari 550 at GT Car parts in Phoenix for a Ferrari tech friend of mine. It was a Ron Davis Aluminum radiator. It was the most beautiful radiator I have ever seen. At that point I vowed, if I were to replace a rad, it would be with a Ron Davis, it is a local Phoenix radiator builder. I would consider what he has to offer to fit your Defender.

I ended up going for a slightly thicker recore. $370 sounded a lot better than $600+ for a new one. Now I need to get braided oil lines before the radiator comes back.
