best defender wiper blades?

Who makes the best blades for a defender?

I believe a new wiper blade gives one a fresh outlook on life and the road just ahead. Simple they are, yet they can be a profoundly hard thing to find... for a defender. I used to just swipe the un-usable rear blade off the winter discovery set sold at LR, and I saved up a few but I'm out... In fact the other day I had to resort to installing my spare "interior" blade, you know, the one that is on top of the dash for de-misting the inside of the glass...

So before I go to napa, only to place an order, I'd like to know whats best? Almost any input is welcome, although for the record, in my youth I have just bent the passenger arm over to the drivers side, used a squeegie on a stick, methods. so hopefully It'll be answers like the "Bosch magnum pro v with silicone micro crystals @ 19.5 inches long" or just brand z works too... Dealer and RN are gimmes though.

Many thanks in advance, -Gustaf

Hi Gustaf!

I've been using silblades and have been very pleased with them. Just today I drove 90 miles in crazy rain and they were awesome! I think I picked these up from expedition exchange a while back but I think they are available online elsewhere (sold out on EE)

https://www.expeditionexchange.com/silblade/

Hope all is well

Just grab a set of inserts (or one 26in insert) and cut them down (or in half).

Siliblades are ok and last forever (mine must be 7 years old) but they do not work as well as fresh rubber.

I used the Silblade WB113S Premium Black Silicone for a year and a half - they were good but they didn't last as long as I expected them to.

Just switched to Valeo 600-13 Series - so far so good but it's only been a month (they are quieter than the Silblades though).

The Valeo's were roughly half the price

I had Silblades on my Disco for 6 years and they were pretty good, but they only really worked well when it was actually raining. If there was just a slight mist they would leave streaks.

Hey Everybody,

Thank you for all the replies and suggestions.

Grey's idea of cutting them down... eh I had forgot I did that too.. in college, not with a defender mind you... that silver spoon didn't happen that early, but it was a toyota mini-truck that got pulverized, esp during finals... I used to buy the downey off road stuff, they came out with this fancy telescoping suspension that the Ivon the Iron man used (marketing?). I guess I was the second guy to break it... but but but the first guy to break it twice!

Ahh... I'm losing track. Ok, its Minnesota, Winter, Canadians even went home kinda of deal. I had one bad one and one that just literally flew off the truck... what the? So I pull into the local holiday station, it's the kinda of place that always has something "close" to what you need. Now being an ejamecated kid I figured I'd re-engineer it, pull part of the flexy structure off, splice back together, slice rubber... presto! ya...It's the secret surprise stainless center that gets ya, it just doesn't fatigue and break like aluminum would! ended up looking like my wiper had whiskers, wiped rather unreliable oddly enough and of course the bad one than became the good one. I did make it home

Cheers, -Gustaf
