Belts Replacement

Getting some noise from my belts, probably past time to replace. How involved is it to replace belts on the 3.9? I know I can do the alternator belt, but the others look way more complex.
Local shop is telling me $1,300 possibly if they have to replace tensioners. Seemed high.
Definitely going with Genuine replacements.

Why would you need tensioners? Price seems absurd. I don't have AC and I think my last belt job was 400 for genuine. Wait maybe it was 260.

Can't remember.

I agree. I think some shops like to do the tensioners as preventive. I need to learn to do this basic shit myself or find a shop that will do what I ask. I miss my Colorado mechanics.

Genuine tensioners are typically crazy $$, that's probably where the majority of the price is coming in.

Must be. What is a set of genuine belts run? In a perfect world I buy my parts from Zack and take them to my mechanic for install. That's frowned upon around here.
How often has anyone had to replace tensioners?

man you can get a quality gates belt at any NAPA, replacing belts is a breeze. If things are noisy you should be able to spin the tensioners and get a feel if the bearing is good, same with the alternator and water pump. The bearing in the tensioner is a press fit and easily replaced. I bought a few from George years ago and I keep a spare in each truck. IIRC there are two tensioners on our V-belt trucks and they are different. It has been years since I did the tensioner bearing and belts.

Thanks Zack. Let me see if I can find someone that will replace with parts I buy from you. Is that the only tensioner part # I may need? Phillip says there are two different ones...

I appreciate it, but no need to purchase from me. I was just giving some info on why the price may be so high.

There is also the fan belt tensioner, ERR3767, for $249. Sorry for omitting that!

Timing around getting the tensioners? Are these coming from UK? Just wanted to see in case.

New genuine belts installed today, thanks to Chip at UK Motorsports. Man this guy is good, had my truck done in hour and half. Unbelievable how quiet it is up front now. Tensioners were fine by the way. Honest mechanic and highly recommended in RVA.

Does anyone have a layout to the belts in a 1994 NAS 90.

I'm replacing the water pump and fan and pulled the belts without noting them as well as I should.

Looked all over search and found the 1997 serpentine but nothing on the course of a 1994 which has V belts if what I'm reading is accurate.

Thanks in advance
Harold
