Battery Placement

Newbie here. Looking to install heat in my LHD 110 v8. As I'm researching the installation, I realize my battery may placed in an odd spot? Can someone verify if this is true??

Thanks!
Paul

Never owned a V8 but usually the battery is under the L/H side under the seat.

Since 1985 110s did not leave the factory with 3.9 V8s, I'd venture to say that that is a non standard engine compartment. If it were me, I would move the battery to the under seat box. An excellent opportunity to install a YRM dual battery under seat box.

Correct. This is a 3.9 added in the early 90s. I'm about to install all new harnesses that I've ordered from Autosparks. They configured the wiring assuming the factory location of the battery in 1985. Was the location in the seat box in 1985? How much more work will I have reconfiguring the harness if I don't move the battery?

I don't think your harness includes the main battery cable that goes from the Battery POS lug to the starter. With that in mind, you put the battery wherever you please.

The battery has always been under the seatbox. Seems a very strange thing to remove the heater and put a battery in that location.

As to the harness, the battery has nothing to do with the harness. The battery just has two leads. Power to the starter and ground to the gearbox.

I would also recomment the YRM battery box kit. Great time to freshen up floor plates, tunnel, and seat box seals. Also YRM sells seatbox side kits.

What is under your seats now, and how it the truck heated?
