Battery light not coming on

Just noticed battery light not coming on upon start-up (1994 defender 90 V8). Not sure how long it's been out. Starts fine, and unless it's a new issue, cars been driving fine. Any thoughts?

Bulbs fine, all connections to alternator look intact.

Wiring issue to the bulb?
Bad ground to the bulb socket?
Evil Lucas curse?

Check for power at the light with the ignition on. If no power you need I trace the fault back from there. If there is power it could be an alternator fault or a dead wire between the light and the alternator.

How it works. 12v goes to the bulb. The circuit grounds through the alternator when it is not producing power or has a faulty diode.

It could just be a bad bulb. Had the same issue with my oil pressure light.

Drove car last night starts fine. Still no battery light at start-up. Multimeter to battery before starting 13v and running 15.5v. Seems to be charging blue top optima but no battery light, any thoughts.

Ran auxiliary ground from alternator housing to multimeter common leed and positive leed to bulb socket and there was 12 v in position 2.

Which wire runs from battery light to alternator (ground)?

Problem ended up being a bad diode in the alternator, which also created a slow battery drain issue when parked. New Magneti and all is well.
