Banging and no power

So I replaced the thermostat after thanksgiving due to it overheating on the drive back from my parents house in pa. I ended up taking two of the plug wires off the dizzy so I could get at the bottom bolt. Put it back together and now I get a banging that shakes the truck at idle. I'd swear the wires are on the right way. When I tried driving the truck last weekend. It's acting like the exhaust is clogged. Which wouldn't surprise me since the muffler is original. So my question is what's causing the banging?

Can you describe this banging better? This is not a good week for me, but maybe by the weekend I could make time to come over and take a look.

Ditto

trace them back and see if you put them in the wrong spot or that you pulledout the insulator when removing the boot from the plug.

IF they are all good you can stat the truck and remove the wires one by one slowly listening for the electricity arcing to the plug. If you notice that the truck running does not change ona partcular cyl, you have prpbably found the one that is misfiring. (as in when you remove it it does nto run even worse)

you can then swap the known bad plug wire for a known good and change out the plug, eliminating the issue from plug to wire. They you can check the dizzy cap or compression on that cyl for problems,

Not like the one in the video. I'll play more with the wires this weekend. Charles if you can make it over that would be great. it shakes the truck and happens regularly when i idle it in the driveway.

Take the banana out of the tailpipe and swap the wires. The banging shouldn't be too loud, but more of a hesitation sputter. Its just firing on the wrong cylinders at the wrong time.

Depending on which wires are crossed he could be hearing popping through the intake making the whole truck shake. A miss fire through the intake can sound pretty violent!

The banana fell out a long time ago. Tailpipe is too rotten to shove anything in.

Bingo, just 2 crossed plug wires. Tyler needs to brush up on his reading of diagrams upside down.

But I think it was just his trucks way of letting him know it wants to get out more.
