Backwards transfer

Anybody know why my transfer box might be reversed? 1994 Defender 90.

Up/right is Hi
Down/right is low

Lock is still left in all positions. No problems with it. Just curious.
Thanks. G.

I don't even know that it's possible, but it sounds like the collar that splines onto the shift mechanism is flipped upside down. The linkage that operates high/low should be on the bottom of the collar.

The shift linkage is connected to the transfer case shifter upside down.

Should this be at all troublesome? The previous owner from this forum did some serious trails and won awards, so I'm assuming it's just a nuance.

No idea. I've no idea why anyone would install this incorrectly and have no experience with installing it backward.

It is a simple quick job to get it back the way it is meant to be.

To get Diesel into the tank is a simple job.

To get this fixed the right way it's work!
