I changed from 10 to 24 spline because I wanted lockers and the ability to buy cheap replacement shafts and HD aftermarket shafts.
There are advantages to moving from factory
10 spline to factory
24 spline, but what John is saying is that "strength" is not one of them.
That said, switching to 24 spline gives you access to quite a few aftermarket HD shaft options. 10 splines do not.
