Auto console lid thickness?

Could someone please measure/snap a shot of their original (not reproduction) auto console lid? I ordered another console lid from ashcrofts, one without the handle on the lid, but it is slightly different from the other reproduction one I have. They have different thicknesses in the latch area. I wanted to get one without the handle so I didn't have extra holes where the latch goes. I was actually able to find a latch and lock believe it or not. The thinner reproduction console seems like the latch will protrude well below the tray side.
Thanks,
Pete

I'd say the plastic is about .040" thick ( forty thousand's )
I'm amazed I haven't put my elbow through it in all this time past.

I was going to guess the same thickness as 3 sheets of paper but you're more accurate....

I'm with you. I too am really surprised how much abuse mine has taken. I'm have countless long heavy things resting on it because the rear cargo area is too short to carry 2x4's or what have you. I've often thought it would be great to have a shop upholster a pad for my elbow though like they have on the tuffy box.

Someone with a stock console must have a caliper they can measure with.

The first gen reproduction does look a lot closer than the second gen cover when comparing it to the pic from roverdoc. Wonder why the change. The first gen also fastens the lid cover to the lid inside cupholder tray with screws on the outside. The second gen must be glued inside as there are no external screws.

I managed a machine shop and we made some small, very precise items, so .040" is a pretty large number from my experience.
