Attaching a cut winch line

I need help with figuering out how to attach a used winch line to a used winch which I bought from different people. I have a Warn 8000, and a winch line which is cut. Is there an easy way of attaching this to the winch? I was expecting a connector of some sort on the end of the line to attach it to the winch but it looks like the line was cut. How does one go about doing this?

Thanks,
Sam

Take the line to your hardware store and the screw from your wench as well. describe what you are trying to do. They will be able to sync you up with a clamp. The line only needs to be held in place until you get your first layer of line around the drum. BTW, never let out your line further than the last layer when wenching anyway.

Sam,

If you can't find a terminal to put onto the end of your wire rope call WARN and they will mail one to you. The terminal will then need to be pressed onto the end of the rope.

Steve,
I emailed Warn, they gave me a part number. I called my local distributor and they told me that part is not what I need for the cable... so just going to try Clay's method first.

Thanks,
Sam

I`d listen to Warn, personally. They do, you know.... make the stuff in the first place.

You can buy a Line Lock which is a little piece of nylon material that you can thread and keep 5 wraps of the line on the winch drum. BWOverland sold them. They were originally designed by Dynaflex. They work very well and keep you line secure on the drum.

I had a similar issue connecting my synthetic line on my Superwinch Husky 10. It works very well and is like $6.00
