Ashtray Options?

Are the any other options out there to get rid of the ashtray. I have a MUD LARGE POD but i don't think I am going to use it. Is there any thing else out there to fill the hole? And why are the ashtrays so valuable? In asking that, of course my D90 was missing it too...

Not sure if he still makes these: http://www.americandirtroads.com/catmultimount.html but i've always thought I'd like something like that.

ashtray hole

Did you want to go with gauges? I bought this pod off of ebay Germany.
They make a 4 and a 3 gauge pod.

If you don't want a 'MUD Pod' or any of the other dash-top gauge/switch mountings, then...

For the 2006 model year (last year before the changeover to the 'PUMA' dash) there was a trinket tray available to replace the ashtray, Land Rover call it a "Package Tray" - it should also fit earlier vehicles.

Package tray, callout #3 and mounting clips, callout #4, here -

I don't know if the package tray comes with mounting clips and the clips referenced at callout #4 are replacements, or whether you have to buy 2 x mounting clips in addition to the package tray. You'd have to speak to the supplier.

Callout #3 = FDT500040PMA

The trinket tray is awesome! So much better the an ashtray! I have a MOD POD, its just takes up to much room on the dash. I thought i would like it much more then i do. its brand new w/o and modifications yet. I am sure I wont have any problems selling it.

Someone should make a smartphone dock that fits perfectly in the space where the ashtray goes.

I am thinking about using the ashtray's hole in the dash to pass a duct for defrosting the windshield. The tip of the driver's wiper freeze up and ice starts forming.. This might solve the problem and it is some alternative to an ashtray.. Might be possible to use the mud uk pod as well to inclose gauge and switches!
