Are these bolts important?

I found these bolts on the floor by the pedals after a 13 hour drive. Can't figure out where they came from. Anyone recognize them? Are they important?

Steering colomn shroud screws. Just screw them back in. Not too important.

My question is, why do they fall out to begin with? Happened to me as well.

My top steering column shroud was busted so I replaced it. When I used the original screws to screw into the replacement piece they don't go in properly. What's up with that? The plastic screw bosses turned white from forcing the screws in and i wasn't able to get them all the way in from fear of breaking them. Now why would they go ahead and change the screw size for a replacement part that looks identical?

mine too, i wrapped them in a small piece of plastic (for a tighter fit) and reinstalled, haven't fallen out again yet.

thread on the other side might not be perfect, try wrapping the screw with a small piece of electrical tape then install.

I ordered a new top shroud and new screws to go with it but the screws won't go in!

WTF!?

In the 2nd pic you can see how the boss is getting stressed and turning white from me trying to force the screws in. What's going on here? I ordered the screws and shroud from part#'s in the part catalogue. How come they won't fit.

It's driving me crazy. First the old ones fall out. Then the new ones won't go in.

Regardless of how accurately you ordered it, they may have shipped you random/wrong screws. Check the threads of the screws vs what came out...shouldn't need to force anything
