I started some research on driving/aux lighting and curious if people are still drawn to the Hella 4k's. When I had my first disco in 97/98, they were the cats ass and besides the extremely expensive HID versions, they were popular and held up great. I ran them for a number of years before selling them with the truck. Curious if they are still as good all these years later given technology trends/introduction of LED's yada yada.

I like the pair I have. They aren't as bright as LED's but I like the look of the 4000's better. They just seem to fit a Roverbetter.
I run a pair of cornering beams on the front bumper. Didn't have much luck or care for roof lights.

They're my first choice every time I buy a halogen auxiliary light. The cornering beams are fantastic.

I love the LED's, particularly Baja Design's product line, but you get what you pay for and unless you're ready to drop some coin I wouldn't even venture into that realm of the lighting world.

Glad to hear they have maintained the quality and appeal of the community. I really did love them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another set. They were great on the trails but were used almost daily on the backroads here in Maine. Spotted lots of deer I may have missed on the roadside with them too!

Have you seen the Rally4k's LED in person? I won't bite until I see them and talk to an owner. I'm an early adopter, but not THAT early of one...

No, just pics in the magazines... They look nice. I am curious, but probably won't make a change until the ones I have now, die...

I play with lights a lot up here in Alaska "its freaking dark a lot" . That being said I still think the best bang for the buck is HID . I love the LEDs but unless you are willing to drop the coin for ARBs new light or ORDs with top quality reflectors you wont be happy with LEDs for distance. I have run light bars and for really good high beam addition they are awesome , but they just cant get the distance needed due to small reflectors . I have the 4000s on two of my rigs, its a really god light for the money and built well. My current build will get KC hids 8" poly max housings with LEDs as close range lighting .

The ARB intensity are some of the sweetest lights out IMO. No reports on the Hella LEDs
