Anyone done the head gaskets on a Disco II?

How much of a pain is it to pull the heads on a disco II (Bosch injection system). I did the heads on my Disco I years ago, but I'm getting into this Monday. Anyone know what book time is on it?

Thank you much!

check discoweb or lrr forums, you may have better luck there. I'm sure it's a tedious job.

I've done it. Twice. About to change my cam (200,000 miles) and it is straight forward, same as Disco 1 except less room. Careful of the plastic hoses like the ones from the coolant resevoir (or just plan to replace them) as they break easy. How many miles do you have? You may want to swap the cam/lifters while you are in there.

Also, if you are doing this in-situ, take off your bonnet (hood). When installing the new bolts, put a dot (white out or whatever) at the corner of the bolt so you know how much you are twisting them--there is not a lot of room for an angle gauge or to keep your torque wrench from racheting up by the fire wall. PM me with any questions.

Thanks for the info... I was told elsewhere about the plastic hoses. Checked it on RAVE, and it seems puling it apart isn't too bad. Wish me luck!
