Any guess on whats making this sound

Its been hot here in Orange County and a few times when I have gotten home from work running the a/c on full blast when I park the truck and get out there is a loud popping sound? it goes on for a while 5-10 minutes and i swear it sounds like its coming out from the pass front wheel? Its weird and I wonder what could be making the sound

I can't listen to that right now but it your description sounds like fuel expansion causing your gas cap to release the pressure. I've seen that happen before on vehicles.

Cooling system depressurizing? Any other cooling system related issues? Running a little warm? Hows the coolant level?

I did not listen to the video (I'm in the office with no speakers) so just taking a few WAGs.

Sounds like metal on metal. Something in the suspension or something steering wise is hot and clunking as it's cooling off against something else metal. You have got to love these machines!

ok, I read your description too fast and missed right front, so not the gas cap.

I listened to it, that is weird. As irregular as that pattern is, and def a metal sounds, it's either something hanging that is still swinging and banging on something, or metal that was really hot and cooling (like in your cats if it's a v8).

After it stops, if you shake the vehicle from side to side, does it start up? if not, then I'll rule out something swinging.

The only thing left then is movement related to cooling contraction.

Only when AC has been running?

shaking the car does not cause any sound going to run the a/c on the way home and see if I can get the sound every time I run the air

I kind of thought it might be ac dripping on the exhaust but it really sounded like it was coming from the wheel?

Antichrist!!

I drive a f150 as a work truck and the ac drips on the exhaust and it doesn't sound like that, it could be but you say wheel. Are the brakes getting hot?

Listened to it at home now. That's definitely hot metal contracting. Cats maybe.

I finally listened to it. Cats usually are more tinny in sound.
Do you have access to a mechanics stethoscope ?

I had mine on the lift yesterday, changing the oil, and I heard the same loud dull tapping. Came from way up on the driver side wheel well. I went to seek it out, but it subsided before I could isolate it.
