I'm assuming you mean Proline starters.

The British Starters starters are actually Denso's.
They seem to be well sealed.
I would imagine their lifetime warranty is at least as good as the Proline warranty, and the starter is $4 less and shipping is free.
At some point I would get a set of solenoid contacts, as they are the only weak point in Denso starters, but are easy to replace.

Also, and this is not associated with me whatsoever, but there are bosch starters for LR on ebay right now for $72.90 right now, 5 available. Might be worth checking out.

Out of curiousity, is someone making a gear reduction starter for the 200Tdi?

We are working on the 200tdi starter. It needs to even stronger than the Rv8 starter so we are searching for an appropriate Nippondenso donor starter to work with. Will keep you posted. Doc, Martin BritishStarters.com

Looking at these (mainly for the warranty).

Anyway, I have the BOSCH NAD 10038 now...do I need to somehow confirm that this britishstarters one will work, or are they all pretty standard?

I just want to let folks know that the guys (specifically Dave Austin) at British Starters and Classic Car Performance have great customer service. If that's high on your pecking order then you might want to seriously consider them.

Thanks Dave if you're listening.

I use bosch starters for a D2 in everything. They look the same as the other options but are hi-torque. Same price but different #'s. Many years of reliable service on hundreds of client's Rovers.
