Another LED question

After reading countless threads about led taillights, I need one final answer.
Are the lights ECR used to sell available anywhere? I can find the wipac ones like lucky8 sells but was wondering what happened to the rubbolite ones.
Sorry if I missed it in a thread somewhere
Thanks in advanvce

rubbolite are a bit tricky to find .... if you search hard enough you'll find then an josh's thread with all the needed parts.

Seems like everyone is making LED's for NAS defenders these days.

I've read Josh's thread with the required rubbolite parts, or remember seeing it at least. I just couldn't the light themselves online when I searched.

Does ECR not sell them anymore? If not, I have no idea, other than to find someone in the UK that can get them?

When I was looking I searched everywhere and couldn't find any source other than ECR, so I finally ponied up for them. They are great, and in my opinion, the only ones to get. NAPA carries Rubbolite, but when my local one tried to order the parts from their catalog, he couldn't get them. It seemed ECR had some sort of exculusive retailer deal in the US or so it seemed because nobody had them except them anywhere I searched.

Think its a Trucklite company.

It's both Trucklite and Rubbolite depending on the age of the thread you're searching here. ECR doesn't have an exclusive deal with anyone to carry them here, and they have had their own issues with getting them since the foreign suppliers are so unreliable. As I said in the other thread about 3 days ago, they're also not DOT approved, so you won't find your local AutoZone or even any hook-ups you may have with a TruckLite employee (like I had tried) to carry them for you on this side of the pond.

That explains it. I found it hard to believe that Mike would really go out of his way to create an exclusive retail contract for these, but I couldn't source them anywhere. I could find them online and knew they were made by Truck-Lite/Rubbolite, but could never find a dealer to purchase through other than ECR.

I think once they come out of the shipping box they arrived in they turn into ECR-ROX LED lights up there; other than that they're exactly the same as the ones I have. I may eventually try to do another group buy of them, but the last time I went to start one, Tom (Fla D90) stepped up and took it over since he had an established supplier. Even with his connections, the shipment was delayed at least a month, and now Tom is no longer in the business anyway. Once people pay they're pretty impatient.

So what you're saying is, if they're not DOT approved WIPAC is the only way to go?
I seem to be more confused now that I was before, not uncommon mind you.....

I don't know if the WIPAC LED ones are DOT approved or not - I never really read up much on them, because I thought they were kind of ugly. The Truck-lite / Rubbolite / ECR ROX lights (they are all the same, but being sold under those names) do not have a DOT stamp on them, so that is why you can't find any large chains carrying them in the US. The fact that they aren't/weren't DOT approved didn't really bother me, since it's clearly safer to have these LEDs mounted and actually working all of the time, as compared to the stock lights/bulbs which blew out every few months.

RN carries them

Maybe I read through the thread to fast but RN carries LED tail lights. I converted a 94 tub to 95 lights conventional but found the 94 ST cage will inhibit the use of an ordinary tail light from a 95 or 97 so I had to go with a LED taillight/running light.

I'm in the UK and can get hold of the Trucklite lamps if anyone wants them.

There are also the Perei lamps that mudstuff sells.

Both are more expensive than the Wipac lamps but both are superior quality to the Wipac lamps.

I'd be in for a set granted they are the Truck-lite/ECR ROX ones.
