Am I running lean or rich?

As some of you know I'm getting some obnoxios noxious exhaust fumes recirculating into my cabin. I noticed that the smell is much, much more significant when I let off the thottle. Otherwise while cruising or at idle it's ok. Any suggestions as to why this is happeining...perhaps I can fix it somehow.

BTW, i have a '94 with e 100k mile V8

Sure you don't have any exhaust leaks in the system somewhere?

Brace for impact, I'm in a "modifying mood". Massive thread count inbound.
