Alternator Replacement Options for Disco 200tdi

Are there any American vehicle alternato replacement options for a row 200 tdi (disco) motor. Rovers North has one (alternator) that is listed for a defender 2.5 NA diesel, 2.5 turbo diesel, 200 tdi, 2.5 petrol, 3.5 V-8. The part # is PLD498. It doesn't list disco(only mentions defender). Anyway, I was wondering if there is an readily available American substitute that I could pick up quickly at a advance auto parts or pep boys or other local parts supplier that would be interchangeable.

Well thanks to Rovers North's new way of never showing the "real" LR part number on their website, the PLD498 number is just internal to them.

Microcat shows the actual part number to be RTC5682E for the 45 amp version, and RTC5680E for the 65 amp version.

That might help you find an equivalent.

Edit: There doesn't seem to be a difference between the defender and discos.

I just put the 65 Amp version from Rovahfarm on my Disco 200tdi. Price was great and no core charge.

I don't know of any domestic alternator that fits the Disco 200TDI mounting location which is close to the exhaust manifold.

We built a conversion based on the Ford Tarus Sho alternator that comes in stock 169 AMP or high output 200AMP.

Works with AC or not.

Pictures attached of Disco 200 TDI engines with the conversion.

Moves the alternator high up on the opposite side of the engine where it is no where near the exhaust manifold and does not crowd the intercooler hoses.

The non-AC conversion uses a twin groove water pump pulley.
The version for AC runs of the rear groove in the AC compressor.

Been looking for a replacement Alt for a defender 200tdi, would like to get it away from the exhaust as well. I do like the idea of the MB power steer pump

That Mercedes PS Pump is a big improvement when bolted to the 200TDI.
I have never replaced a Mercedes pump in one in a decade of using them in our 300TD.
Wish I could say that about the PS pumps on Land Rovers.
