Air Filter DIY

hey guys. Need your help. I just tried to swap out my air filter for a k&n. I know it should be easy, but i took the cover off (passenger side) and loosened the nut but the metal circle wont budge. Do i have to open it up from the maf side too? Anyone have a quick DIY for this? Thanks in advance!

Keep pulling, did you try spinning the filter holder CC? K&N air filters suck.

They do not 'suck' but they do not filter as well as the paper filters but they do sure survive getting swamped a whole lot better. If I run an oiled filter on the new vehicle I will also run a raised-air-intake with pre-filter and I probably would not go K&N on a vehicle with a MAF again though I have not seen any issues myself in the D2 but I am careful not to over-oil.

K&N does flow more, yes. But they also pass a lot more crud through than a good factory style filter. I threw my K&N in the trash last year sometime.

I have had to gently use a rubber mallett on the outside of the canister to assist the circle in coming out. You might also be able to get a flat head screwdriver in there.

I do not check PMs. Call or email if you need something.

ECR is not a parts source. We are not in the mail order business.

They suck more dirt into your engine. Why are you sold on the K&N more horsepower?

It doesn't matter. Man made global warming will kill us all in 6 months. Might as well get the extra ponies.

Common mistake. The K&N's will blow up all the motors all at once in 6 months and divide by zero global warming destruction will ensue.
