Air Filter DIY

Just bought a k&n air filter for my '97 D90. From looking at the engine diagram, it looks like i have to install it from under the car. Is this an easy install? Does anyone have a DIY for replacing the air filter? If not, can someone walk me thru the steps? Thanks!!!

Also getting the NPR rear exhaust installed on my D90, since my stock exhauts just rusted out. Can't wait to get everything installed!

Is the air intake not on the firewall in a '97?

Look for the canister with the trumpet part attached to the firewall... Undo the latches and then unscrew the bolt and pull the air cleaner out, install the new one and reassemble.

From under the car it is not an easy install. In fact I doubt you can do it without removing the engine. So, you're looking at a full day's job. Luckily, you only need to replace the air filter once in 100K miles so that's a plus to some degree.
