Air Filter Bracket Parts/Ideas/Pix wanted

I tried to buy the 50th Anniversary LE air filter bracket from RN, who had it on their website and let me order it. They called a few days later to say it was indefinitely back-ordered. The deal with this bracket is that it mounts to the bell housing and back of the v8 instead of being welded to the firewall.

I trolled for pix of this bracket over at LR4x4, and got one a few pix:

http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=50149

One poster indicated that he had used the AF bracket off of an early carbed v8 and had just adapted it. Frankly I don't even remember what that bracket looked like from when I had Janey.

Anyway, I'm looking for a air filter mounting solution that does not involve mounting the NAS-style air filter bracket to the bulkhead.

Any ideas, pix, parts, insults, etc?

Hey Jim,

Not sure if I can help, I am not familiar with the 50th anniversary, but I have a bunch of pictures from my rebuild. It's a 1983 RHD 3.5 V8. You can see more here:

Hope that helps.

Something like an air force 1. Just attach the MAF to the intake and then a filter to the maf with short bits of large diameter silicone hose. Should not even need a bracket or at most a little one.

Shocking as it sounds, I believe I have one of those big air filters if you need it.

Thanks for the ideas and the pix guys. I am perfectly satisfied with the stick filter housing and trumpet, and I've had mine powder coated, so I'd like to use it. Since it looks like the filter mount for the old v8 is basically a couple big straps, I guess the best thing to do is fabricate a bracket that replicates the one from the 50th LE. The pix at LR4x4 at least show how it mounts...

Why not just pop rivet on the one off your NAS bulkhead?

That's exactly what I don't want to do. Not only is the bracket on the bulkhead at your house, it would require putting holes in my nice bulkhead. Then I'd just have to take it back off when the truck eventually gets a diesel engine.
