Air Compressor, Snorkel, Intake Question...

So, I purchased a rather good sized air compressor that I intend on installing for onboard air. I would also like to install a Mantec Snorkel on my NAS110.

I have the engine out, so I can't exactly determine the space I have in the engine bay right now and I am trying to find a location to mount the compressor to avoid it being super loud or getting soaked every time the vehicle fords a river.

I thought of building a box under the rear floor that was accessed through a Marine Hatch, but I fear the compressor is too tall and the box would have to hang awfully low and I don't want to reduce ground clearance or create an eye-sore.

It struck me that I could possibly mount it to the Bulkhead in place of the air cleaner assy, but then I need to relocate that. Is there a smaller option to replace the stock air box so I can run the intake straight from the Plenum to the wing top to mount to the snorkel? I need to include the MAF also, so I think I need a smaller air filter assy, but I don't know where I could get one. Maybe make a custom one? What does anyone think of this setup?

Looking for suggestions or other people's solutions here. For what it's worth, I purchased the Puma 12v compressor off ebay. It has pretty good CFM, which is why I went with it. I plan to remove the compressor from the tank and mount a remote tank to the frame on the passenger side to increase the air capacity.

Great place to put it is in the passenger seat box. Compressors can get really hot, so engine compartments tend not to be popular for compressors. Not sure on weather resistance of that compressor. if you do put it in the seatbox, or build a box elsewhere, you can sound dampen the box with purpose made material to control the noise level.

Thanks Mark! Yes, temperature is another concern of mine. I don't have room in the seat box unfortunately. I think it may be too tall for the Passenger Side, but I also have the X9 Solenoids and a large Power Inverter in there already, so that is out unfortunately. (I should have mentioned that)

I stuck mine in the rear cargo area, driver's side on the tub. Made a little shelf (needs some work still) but works great. Here's a pic.
