AC info

Hi
I need some AC info about the Condenser and Fan fitted in the LR Defender
From the attached picture I'd like to know:
length A,
length B,
and the fan Part # that can be red from its tag (suspected to be a Spal 11" or 12")

can somebody help me with this?

Thanks
Pat

I think your B is too short? shouldn't be 27.5" instead?

Thanks a lot guys

My AC condenser is not the full width of the radiator, it's only about 2/3 - 17.5"

24 5/8 to where your arrow is pointing for B, 25 3/4 to the every outside edge of the condensor

There are about 3 different condensors used in NAS 90s depending on the system installed at the time of production (Elite, Diava, Wynns, etc) , and the new systems that you can get today (Smiths) have a different condensor again (so that is 4). 5 if you count the NAS 110s (different again).

Well, I don't need to know how many different condensors are available out there for the NAS 90 or 110.
I was just interested in the one on the picture.
Mike; do you recognize that condensor, have you ever fitted one of those? any info on "that" one?

Thanks a lot
Pat

The one I measured was from my 97 AC kit. I have a 95 D90, but installed AC in it and believe the kit was for the 97s.

My comment was to let you know why you might be getting different dimensions from different folks.
I've never measured them so I don't know what one that is and don't recognixe it by sight.

Sorry, for the confusion, I think elite manufactured the 97 units, I have a 97 unit in my truck, and the fan says "spal" on it.

ok,
some info on the fan VA11-AP7/C57S that I've got with the people at http://www.spalusa.com/

http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/4329/spal1kp.jpg

considering it's a 10" fan it seems the condenser should be A~13" B~22"

ECR: I've PMed you before starting this thread and you couldn't give me any info (you didn't even answer my last PM); I got to be honest with you, I think you have the info but for some reason you don't want to write it here. I might be able to understand that, but what bothers me the most is you participating in this thread just adding no more than noise.

Thanks guys
Pat

He does have a full time shop to run. Perhaps you should be a little more patient.

Ah... OK.
I answered your PM within 2 days of getting it. Then I posted info. for you during last week and on Saturday, and now a reply on Sunday.
My post to let you know there are a bunch of different ones was not noise in my opinion, because if you were getting different dimensions and didn't know why, I wanted to let you know they weren't all the same. If you thought that was just noise, that is cool, just don't read it. I thought it was a valid statement with information you needed.
Why the &*^% would I not give you information? Come to the shop and we'll walk around the yard and match that sucker up. I told you I don't know it by sight. Or you can call the shop if you are in that much of a rush for information and we'll try to help.

I think you are paranoid... the big ECR AC condensor conspiracy!!!!!!!!
"They know... I know they know... and I know they know that I know they know.... they are just toying with me.... I know they are just sitting there, laughing at me.... I just know it."

C'mon dude... chill out.

And so begins the reasons why I have avoided chat rooms....

Arthur,
I'm installing AC on my 90 300Tdi.

DJ,
You're probably right, but I get a kind of pissed when people have no time/knowledge for answering PMs on one topic but have time to participate saying nothing on threads "on the same topic" a few days later.

ECR,
I'm not a paranoid; I've sent to you 2 PMs about this topic before I've started the thread, one got for answer
Quote:
Sorry, we just install the Rover systems. They come complete. We have no idea if the parts you are putting together will work together, sorry

The second one was never answered.
Hey mate was for you so difficult just to read the Spal tag on the fan as "Captain Spalding" immediately did??

You know, I agree with you; I think free technical chat rooms and full time shops are not completely compatible.

for the rest of us with 300tdi and probably V8s, this link might be useful

Thanks

Pat - I think its interesting that you think the presense of a forum entitles you to free techical advice. If I post a message I'm thrilled if people want to answer - I appreciate it - at no time do I feel I deserve it - and I dont feel that just because I send a PM that the other party is *obliged* to respond.

Jeez, sometimes we treat our vendors here so shabbily. They are naturally scared off. If you spend 25k at ECR and feel you got ripped off, I'll listen, but don't whine when you dont get the free stuff you wanted.

By the way, I adapted the Elite system kit for a 97 NAS to my 300Tdi. I sat down with and electical engineer and we re-digrammed the wiring harness. I had Thermoking fabricate hoses for me, and with the help of RDS, I found exactly the right Denso compressor to go with the system. I'll be more than happy to help you even though you seem like a prick.

I think you missed the point here; I'm not entitled to free technical advice at all, but if XXX cannot answer a PM I'd appreciate XXX's silence or real help on the same topic thread. Period.

BTW, for a 300Tdi:
The compressor Denso is a 10PA17C, I have somewhere its clutch number, the compressor mounting is the ERR4638.
You can see at the picture the "real" 300Tdi AC belt lay-out and associated pulley & tensor.
At the thermostat elbow you should've got 2 thermal switches: one switches the fan on when the coolant temperature reaches 221F (even with the AC off), the other one forces the AC off when the coolant temperature reaches 237F. I hope your EE did a good job installing "both" , if this is not the case it would be potentially dangerous for your engine; just let me know, I can help you, I'm an EE too.

Thanks
Pat
