AC differences

What are the differences, if any, between 95's and 97's? Are they the same?

No.

97 is a completely different system from 95.

97 was an add on system that has different everything and does not include the compressor. 95 (that actually came in very late 94) is a complete system. The 94 system is different still.

You could run a 97 on a 95 but you need a compressor and brackets off of a 94/95 or a RRC. With the RRC compressor you may have to convert to R134a (all D90s are R134a, only 93 110s are R12), but I think it would be ok as is.

A bit confusing. How about a 95 system in a 97? No dice?

I highly recommend a 97 system in a 97 - it is designed to plug right into the main body harness. Its also a nicer looking system.

The question is...do you have two plugs on your passenger firewall that are plugged into blind spade lugs on the firewall? if you do, I would suggest that at least the electrical problems are a non issue...I have both an old take-off AC system from an earlier d90 and a 95 kit that I got from RN...they're essentially the same but the 95 is a cleaner looking design...but they both fit the underneath of the dash...the earlier system looks like it was riveted in and the 95 is pretty much a bolt in on the interior...as to the engine bay, from what I hear many 90s have the AC compressor installed, if so , then you are stylin...if not, you gotta get that done...I have a spare bracket and compressor because I ordered my 300Tdi engine with them and so now have extras...anyway, more specifically, what is your situation and what do you want to do?

I will check those firewall connectors. I am selling my AC from a 95, and one person who is looking at it has a 97. Neither of us had any idea if it would work. Thanks for all of your suggestions.
