Anyone ever do one of this installs and have good results?

I see the same kit still on ebay for $2250 which seems reasonable.

Doesn't look as nice as the RN kit but the seller (of course) says the quality is much better.

Any actual users out there?

Any idea what the cost was and shipping to the USA?

Also, was anything else needed besides their kit and what was the install cost approximately?

Thanks

I had it installed at their factory in the U.K. I know that Rovers North is their US distributor so you can find on their website. Not sure on install costs here. It cost around £2,400 installed. Not cheap but cheaper than here!

How much would you expect a complete AC system installed to cost?

Random question, but some of you might know, will the TD5 compressor fit on a 300TDI AC mount.

I have searched the internet and I am back here...

Id be interested in knowing the differences between a td5 kit and a 300tdi kit. I think britpart has the LHD td5 kit or RHD 300tdi for pretty reasonable price. I of course need LHD 300tdi which is not available.

FWIW after investigating it appears the TD5 kit utilizes the ECM of the TD5 and the 300 TDI is a standalone (no ECM on a TDI).

If you look at the wiring however they are pretty close with few exceptions, obviously the hoses and routing are different (different locations on the engine) but electrically and component wise they are very similar

I have converted my factory TD5 AC to stand alone by cutting 4 wires going into ECM, join 3 of them and seal the 4th as in the following digram with notes on it.

The TD5 ECM is utilised for the following functions:
* Disengage compressor for high power demand.
* Disengage compressor in case of high coolant temp.
* Engage AC condenser fan in case of high coolant temp even if AC is off.

My AC is working perfectly now with my GM LS swap running GM compressor.

The restomodair guys have a system that is small enough to fit under onside of the seat box or in a gutted cubby.
