Cool ABS Plastic fender outside skin panel

I see a trend were ABS plastic is being used on Defenders for the front outer side skin panel.
Will this look factory like after paint, I have to admit its an area where damage is likely on the trail?

But factory look and cant tell the difference from aluminum is what I would want.

Anyone have any experience with this?

You might want to post a photo or a link to what you are thinking about. ABS is not really paintable though and is usually dyed to the required colour prior to molding.

If you are talking about extended fender flares, those are mostly because people are fitting wider tires, wheel spacers, wheels with greater offset (or if me, all of the above) and most places require your fenders to cover your tires and you can get fined if they do not.

I just went with Zermatt Silver for the bodywork with black accents like the wingtop chequerplate and fender flares. Not sure what else will end up black and what will end up in Zermatt, going to play that by ear once all the stuff arrives.

I guess the main question is if paintable & will it stay and hold up.

I just sent them an email regarding my questions abaove, will post once I get an answer.

That sounds like a really good idea... Especially for the wheelers. That panel likes to get dinged up.

You need to apply paint as if you are painting a front bumper on most cars, paint that has flex ability
I'm not entirely sure of the process, but I'm sure all paint shops can do this.
